Thoughts from my Girlfriends (leaving Belize)

Say it! Say it! Shhhh! One of the many VBS sayings that 21 women will always remember! It reminds me of what Jesus says – tell the whole world about Him and take time out to be quiet and listen to His voice. Is a Girlfriends’ missions trip a good idea? YES….so, get out there and “Say it, Say it, Shhh!”

This mission was just so amazing! Approximately 23 boys and girls accepted Christ. That was such an awesome day. It was so wonderful to see the children so open to worship and prayer. Our numbers started at around 16 kids and our final numbers were 75! We all had so much fun and blessing – the children, people we have met, and each other.

Through the laughter, the tears, the hard work, the sweat; through the fun times with these amazing women and the hard times – this week while serving and touching the lives of the Belizian people, God greatly deepened my passion for mission work and overwhelmed me with the desire to win souls for Christ.

If I had to summarize this trip in just a few sentences, I would have to say:

* Our organizers, Camella & Jessamy, did an amazing job.

* The work was exhausting, the rewards are eternal.

* Lastly, the impact this experience has had on my life is more than words can express. For me, I feel we were able to impact the community of San Mateo and not just those associated with the Holy Cross Anglican School. I have met phenomenal people that have poured into my life this week – from the sweet children at the school to the other volunteers to the amazing women that took this journey with me. My desire is that I have made at least a fraction of the impact in their lives that they have made in mine.

This week was all about G.P.S. (Growing, Praising, and Sharing). It was as if God was our source that navigated our every move. We came with a plan, but came across a couple of roadblocks. But, God was there to lead us to our destination.

I am overwhelmed at seeing the blossoming and blooming of this amazing missions trip. It has been such a miraculous process from the readying of the soil, the planting of the seeds, the watering, the sowing and the growing. The harvests will continue to reap strong for generations to come not only in the little community of San Mateo and the country of Belize but also in the changed hearts of the 21 Girlfriends of Trinity Church.

The question was asked of me would I ever do this again even though it was a difficult week? Being with these twenty amazing women was such a rich experience. We ministered, worked, WALKED, swam with sharks, and laughed together. I was so proud of the way they represented the Girlfriends of Trinity Church and most of all represented the character of Christ. They “ALL” walked in His love and gave grace where needed. Becky, this may have been the “Best Girlfriends Ever!” Wish you were here!
