Pennies, Nickels and Dimes…

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Yes…the hour is late and tomorrow begins a journey to Rwanda and Zimbabwe. We are anticipating an incredible trip full of opportunities to help people – excited to be living out our passion! We covet your prayers while we are gone and encourage you to look for updates here on the website.

Just a little story of encouragement. Imagine a room full of three to five year old children wiggling with anticipation of hearing Mr. Bruce and Miss Camella tell their stories of Africa. This was what we experienced last Wednesday evening. The “Rainbows” at our home church have been collecting their offerings to help us buy shoes for the orphans. With excitement they bring their pennies, nickels & dimes to place in the shoebox every Wednesday. After our time with the Rainbows (which was priceless), I thought of their innocence and “un-jaded” hearts. They are not embarrassed to bring pennies nor do they feel it is “not enough.” Because they are giving with expectation that when everyone gives – pennies, nickels and dimes will buy shoes.

Next time you see a need – remember that pennies, nickels and dimes multiply when everyone is doing something!

Blessings,

Bruce & Camella

It is Time…

Friday, January 9th, 2009

The last few months have been a joy as we have been able to provide for needs in Zimbabwe. Our team on the ground have worked hard to supply blankets, food, medications – the list goes on.

But, it is time…

Camella and I will be leaving for Africa January 21st and returning February 14th. It is time that we physically wrap our arms around “our kids” at Ivordale, Rose of Sharon and Hopley Farm. It is time that we visit the hospitals, hug the kids in the HIV ward, and pray for the most destitute who have suffered from cholera.

Our hearts are welling up with excitement. What a joy to be living our passion.

We know that we will see needs. Rose of Sharon orphanage will need more food, more will be suffering from cholera, medications will be needed for the little ones. It is our prayer that we will be able to provide for needs such as we did for Rose of Sharon orphanage right before Christmas when they no longer had food. These words are from Fatima, Director of Rose of Sharon.

“It is with heartfelt gratitude, that I write to inform you that your children-orphans had one of the best Christmas because of your care and concern for the most disadvantaged children.”

If you are able to help in any way – funds will go to provide for the most crucial needs. We will be taking funds with us from NNMSII (supplied by our company) to take care of these needs – if you decide to join with us, every dollar you give will be taken with us. It is time.
