How You Can Help
OPERATION COVER-UP II
As we are all aware, 2010 has jolted America with an awareness of people in desperate need around the world. The people of Haiti have certainly made us aware of the blessings that we enjoy as privileged Americans.
What the news doesn’t show, probably because there is not enough time to do so, is the continued plight of the children in Zimbabwe that we have worked with for over 10 years now. As that country continues its political decline, the most vulnerable people in society suffer the most…the orphans and children with HIV.
We are going to Zimbabwe in March to prepare for the upcoming winter that will again reveal an enormous need for blankets. Last year we distributed over 5,000 blankets and we hope to provide at least that number again this year, but we need your help!
We need your help to purchase the blankets at only $7 each. These children live without heat in their homes. In fact, many don’t have homes at all, so a blanket becomes a precious, even life saving possession.
Simba is a nine year old who received a blanket this past winter. Simba has no parents – both parents died of AIDS before he was four years old. Simba’s siblings (who are barely teenagers themselves) watch out for him. Can you imagine what this blanket meant to Simba? I think you will agree that his smile gives us a glimpse of the value he places in this simple blanket.
While in Zimbabwe next month we are also hoping to purchase more “nappies” (diapers) for severely disabled children. I don’t think I need to tell you what it is like for caregivers not to have a diaper for a child. It is not a pleasant or healthy situation.
Each month we also are continuing to provide food and water for over 200 orphans in Zimbabwe as well as life saving medical operations for children in Vietnam.
We are asking you to partner with us and help us to help these children.
Jesus said, “the poor you will have with you always.” What that means to me is that we will always be presented with the opportunity to help poor people who have no way to help themselves.
Please take this opportunity to help us help a few of these poor innocent children. Our arms extended in compassion will give them a hope for the future. Your help will show them that someone cares about them and is willing to express God’s love for them in a tangible way.
Thank you,
Bruce & Camella
