Dear Friends,

As the seasons begin to change here at home – Spring and soon to be Summer – it is hard to imagine that children in Zimbabwe are soon to experience another Winter!

This will be a Winter that many children in Zimbabwe will face without a warm blanket!

For the past three years, we have provided a warm blanket through Operation Cover Up to approximately 20,000 needy children. In 2010 alone you helped us distribute 10,000 blankets to these precious children – many of them orphans.

Again this year we are moving forward with Operation Cover Up…with the goal of covering at least 20,000 children with a warm blanket! A warm blanket that will represent the covering of their loving God. These blankets save lives as well as become a prized possession for these children.

Just yesterday we heard from our vendor who supplies the blankets in Zimbabwe. What a blessing this vendor has been to us and so many. Quite frankly, it has been a struggle for him to keep the price of the blankets at $5 each. And yet, he is offering us a remaining supply of 20,000 blankets at the $5 price if we will commit to purchase them NOW.

So you see, the need is pressing! We are asking you to partner with us again to provide these blankets to the needy children in Zimbabwe. Words fail us when trying to express what these blankets mean to children who have nothing. The need is huge and the time is short to make sure that the blankets are purchased and distributed before the cold temperatures begin to take their toll on the health of these little ones.

Over the past few years we have seen and heard a lot of stories from children who have received a blanket through Operation Cover Up, but the one story that sums it all up is a quote from a 9 year old little girl who when given her blanket told our friend Dr. Reid, “Thank you. For the first time I will be warm!” Hard for us to imagine as we live in the comfort of our home with more than enough blankets and yet, this is reality for so many children in Zimbabwe.

Our vendor stands ready for our commitment to purchase 20,000 blankets. What should our answer be? Once again,we know it must be yes! Please help us say “yes” to children in need of blankets. The students at Oral Roberts University are helping us say “yes” through a generous donation that will provide for the first 1,000 blankets. We will begin distribution this month. We would be so honored for you to partner with us on a monthly basis or with a gift of any amount to help meet this very urgent need.  Operation Cover Up!
